Commitment to sustainable long-term value starts from the top of an enterprise. Executives must do what they can to put organizations in the best possible situation so employees will use resources efficiently and effectively to reach strategic objectives.
By establishing a risk philosophy and appetite, as well as viewing strategy as a manageable portfolio of adverse risks and opportunities, executives and directors alike can create a healthy risk culture throughout the enterprise. Reputational drivers of value, such as beliefs and boundaries, help foster the desired culture, and a thorough understanding of stakeholder expectations allows for alignment between the stakeholder and the enterprise’s culture.
Module learning objectives:

- Demonstrate the key role of setting and conveying corporate values as beliefs of an organization that need to be conveyed by all employees to attain strategic objectives

- Introduce concepts of strategic risks and corporate risk appetite

- Provide a view of enterprise risk management as a way for executives to ensure that employees across the organization understand how they fit into the risk portfolio
