How you communicate is often as important as the content of your message.  This series of five video modules introduces students to various forms of written communication used in the tax profession.  Resources are also provided as a take-away summary for each topic.

Developed by Dr. Tracy Noga, Bentley University, and presented by Michael Orth, a communications director for KPMG Business School, these videos and the accompanying materials are designed to engage students and reinforce concepts through real-world examples.

Please note, our intent is not to teach students how to conduct effective research, but rather how to communicate effectively using tax technical information.

Each video is approximately 10 minutes in length.   There are five modules covering the following topics: 


Tax communication practice exercises

Each practice exercise presents students with a tax issue and the relevant research materials.  Students are asked to create an internal research memo, as well as a letter to the client, articulating their findings.  Each practice exercise should take about one hour to complete.  Faculty members may download the practice exercises and suggested solutions.
